It’s very exciting and interesting to be apart of these awards. Happy November Cloud, what a year you’ve had! xx

Very grateful to Alice Blackwood at DQ for writing such a lovely article xx

The latest issue of (inside) has published the full guide of shortlisted nominations in the upcoming Idea Awards. The DIA stand at designEX, designed by Daniel Dalla Riva from 6 Hats and where Cirrus flew, is one of eleven projects in the Event category. The introduction reads ‘Focused on the ‘best in show’, the Event Category packs a good punch this year with interesting exhibition design and temporary pop-ups that still compromise little in functionality and good looks. With notable designs by 6 Hats, Edwards Moore, Foolscap Studio, Toby Harrocks and Kristian Aus, the competition here this year is extremely stiff.’
It’s very humbling to know that it’s the biggest year for the Awards, in terms of the overwhelming number of wonderful projects. It’s a great thrill to be apart of them.. Congratulations and best of luck to all, and of course.. Go Cloud xx

The Melbourne Design Awards official evening took place on the Prince deck, Circa on October 6th. The Cloud and I went along as finalists in the Installation - Exhibit Category, and were extremely happy and surprised to be awarded the Winner. Just a year after completing my degree I never imagined I would ever be in the position to enter such an event, let alone be in the running to take home the Award. Congratulations to all other entrants and of course the amazing team who organised and made the night be such a success, Thank you! xx

The amazingly lovely Alice Blackwood, Editor of Design Quarterly took this image of my cloud. It is a tiny version I made during my thesis studies last year. I had taken it into the Colourways Trend workshop we attended last week in St Kilda..

‘Cirrus’
‘Cirrus’ is an installation formed by 600 hand folded origami chatterboxes. It works within the parameters of a modulated surface, where suspension allows the piece to stretch and interact with different intensities of light. The light filters gently through the matted opacity of the Tyvek sheets enlivening the density of the surface.
Installed statically in previous locations, movement has been researched and implemented into this surface to ultimately bring it to life. Cirrus takes hold of the viewer. Material, light and movement elevate the piece encouraging an emotive interaction to the repeated motion of the modulated surface.
